Film Studies

This course builds upon students’ own experience of film and helps develop their language skills through discussing film critically. It encourages recognition of the complexity of the medium of film through studying a broad spectrum of films from independently made, foreign-language and mainstream.

  • Macro elements of film
  • Genre and narrative – Superheroes genre
  • Micro elements of film – cinematography, editing, sound and mise-en-scẻne
  • Representations of social groups

Key Stage 5

Years 12 and 13

This course has both examination and course work.
