We are delighted to announce that Lola C, a Year 12 student of Ashlyns School, has won the Best Under 16 category for her short musical film “The Interview”. The Moving Image Awards (in conjunction with the BFI) recognise and reward the UK’s most talented student film-makers and screenwriters, encouraging more young people to consider a career within the film industry. Every year, students undertaking qualifications in Film and Media Studies are invited to submit their work for consideration by a panel of judges, for awards including Best Film/TV Extract, Best Screenplay and Best Music Video. In the nail-biting awards ceremony last week, which featured guest presenters such as actor Michael Sheen and director Edgar Wright, Lola also narrowly missed out on the Overall Winner award, pipped by a student two years older than herself. A fantastic achievement for all those involved in the film but especially Lola who also was also able to participate in a screenwriting masterclass before the event as a nominee. Roll on the BAFTAs in a few years!
