Film Studies

This course builds upon students’ own experience of film and helps develop their language skills through discussing film critically. It encourages recognition of the complexity of the medium of film through studying a broad spectrum of films from independently made, foreign-language and mainstream.

Spring 1 Paper 2 Global film and representation 35%– 3 films studied TRevisit Tsotsi, Yasmin or Boy in the striped PJs, according to class preference – focus on exam skills
Spring 2 Paper 2 Global film and representation 35%– 3 films studied Revisit genre for paper 1 exam – focus on exam skills.
Summer 1 Coursework element (non-exam component 30%) – researching, creating, editing and evaluating either a short extract from a film or pre-production materials. Finalise any outstanding coursework, plus general exam revision
