The ASA is run by the parents and carers of students at Ashlyns school, to provide support at school events and raise funds for the development of the school and its facilities, that directly benefits the students.

The ASA has raised over £150,000 in the last 5 years, and we’re still counting. The following are just a small example of how we have helped support the school and students:

  • Over £20,000 for sports hall equipment
  • £10,000 towards acoustic boards and redecoration of the main hall
  • Cameras for the Drama Department and display and plan chests for the Art Department
  • Books, DVDs and comics in French and Spanish for the Foreign Language Library
  • A major refurbishment of the hall stage
  • Purchase of the Ashlyns mini bus
  • Upgraded teaching technology in all classrooms
  • Sound system in Ashlyns Chapel

We have regular informal meetings each month to discuss fund-raising ideas, social events, and ways in which we can provide support to the school and students; we are always open to suggestions and ideas, so please don’t hesitate to come along to a meeting, drop us a line via email, or message via our Facebook page.

These are just a few of the brilliantly successful events we have organised:

  • Halloween Ball for years 7 and 8 students
  • Autumn Craft Fair
  • Quiz Night
  • Tombola stall at the Berkhamsted Festival of Light
  • Summer concert BBQ and Bar
  • Good-as-new Uniform sale
  • Christmas wreath making
  • Ashlyns Festival

2018 saw the ASA put on our biggest fundraising event to date – the Ashlyns Festival. This was two-day festival with food and drink, live music and a fantastic family area and chill-out space. It proved to be a hugely successful first-ever event, and a perfect opportunity to enjoy the magnificent grounds of Ashlyns School whilst bringing the whole community together in a celebration of summer. Watch this space for future news and see photos on the website:

We also raise vital funds for the school and students in other ways, in which you too can help play a vital part:

Good-as-new uniforms

If you need new or second-hand uniform it can be purchased from the school office throughout the year.  You can donate your outgrown uniform back to the school for repair/resale.  This hugely successful venture has raised £1,500 so far this year, thanks to a dedicated team of ASA volunteers who wash and repair all items for resale.

Easy2name labels

If you are buying labels for school equipment or uniform please consider using Easy2name labels – The labels are clear, durable, dishwasher and washing machine proof, and the company offers a fast and efficient postal service. Select ‘Ashlyns School HP4’ when you make your online purchase, and the school receives 20% commission.

Online shopping has become second-nature, so help raise more funds by simply using Once you’ve registered, you can shop in your normal way with a huge selection of retailers such as Amazon, M&S, Argos, John Lewis, eBay, but crucially, a percentage of your spend is donated back to the ASA for the school at no extra cost to you. This simple switch has raised over £4600 so far for the school, with over £1000 in the last year alone; just think how much we could raise when it comes to Christmas shopping!

The ASA 100 Club is coming soon. Look out for further information on this simple but effective way to raise funds, and have the chance to win a cash prize at the same time!
